Editorial policy

How facts get into the guides, how we label them and what we do when sources disagree.

Sources

Facts about licences, fees, fines and procedures are taken from official sources whenever they exist: the Department of Land Transport, the Royal Thai Police, the Land Traffic Act and the Royal Gazette. Where an official source is not available, we use reputable secondary sources and say so. Each guide lists its sources at the end.

Verified information

Information marked Verified was confirmed first-hand by the author at the office concerned, for example what a counter asked for or charged. Everything else comes from the sources listed at the end of each guide.

When sources differ

Rules and fees change and are applied differently by office. Where reliable sources give different figures, we show what each one reports instead of choosing one without evidence, and we say when we have no reliable data.

Updates

Guides carry a date and are rewritten when a rule or fee changes. A change of rule is checked against the official source, not only against news coverage.

Corrections

If you find a mistake or have newer information, write to us, ideally with the office, date and a document or link. We correct confirmed errors and update the date on the page.

Partner links are always marked and never affect what a guide says. We do not accept payment to change a statement of fact. More in About ThaiDrive.
